Started to skip this one but realized it was in Bryson City. A friend calls it “Mayberry”, it’s an awesome town!

I’m glad you didn’t skip it. What is special about it is that nothing is particularity special. But altogether it just seems so relaxed, comfortable and charming. Love the hills, garden, the outbuilding and the stream. Looks like a very nice place to live. More of like a great home, than any kind of special house architecturally in and of itself. Maybe much like “Mayberry” as well.

It’s about a hundred years newer than my taste, but you can’t deny it has tons of natural charm and beauty. I’m glad you included it. The town can make all the difference in the world.

It’s right next to the elementary school, too! You’d think the listing would’ve mentioned that…

Alarka Creek has a large, lovely waterfall a few miles up the road, and Bryson City’s not far from the famous Nantahala Gorge and Lake Fontana. This is a beautiful home, but I’m confused about the two different sides shown. From the pictures, it seems like the back of it has siding put over the logs…

The first pic looks like lighter logs, near the door you see the ends…I could be wrong though.

Now that I’m not looking at it on my phone and can see a larger picture, you’re absolutely right. That first image was just taken in very bright sunlight, and the other was in shadow.

I honestly expected the interior to be more rustic based on the exterior. Not bad, just unexpected. The property is gorgeous, and all the out-buildings just add to the charm.

This is a BEAUTIFUL area! Bryson City is a neat little town and Nantahala Outfitters Center and the Appalachian Trail are nearby. Gorgeous scenery!

We visited there a few years back and it was amazing. It does feel like Mayberry. We took a haunted ghost tour with a great guide around town. He gave us a brief history lesson throughout the whole town. If I ever moved, this town would be it!
