Why are all of the fireplaces covered up?

A lot of people cover them when they fall into disrepair, because it’s cheaper than fixing them. Terrible, really!

Nonworking fireplaces become just big holes for heat to escape and are typically covered. During this era, some were designed to only burn coal, which can make unsuitable for wood fires and seen as obsolete once central heat became common.

I’m a sucker for old barns and outbuildings! Love the huge tree in the front yard. Great price!
