Nice! Very fine house in very fine condition with some remarkably beautiful interior and exterior details intact at a super reasonable price + with a pool! Someone’s puppy dogs are going to be in heaven with that full 2 acres to run around on. If I were the buyer my first move would be to cross the threshold with my baseball bat to play piñata with that (redacted) home center fixture. With the excessive monies spent on that (redacted), one could have easily found a really great antique or vintage fixture which would sing in harmony with this great house. Fail.

The stairs. The fireplace. The floor pattern. The fact that none of the wood has been painted! The huge lot. The pool. Yes. This one is mine! Please have it delivered immediately! I can’t wait to dig in and bring it back to life! (NOTE: Its odd to me that USA listings never have floor plans as most do in Europe. Why is that?)

Finally a kitchen that matches the house. I love it. Stairway and fireplaces are great. Just a beautiful home. I go thru Coldwater often. Next time I will check this out. The floors in some of the rooms are nice. Altogether a great find. This one is A+.

This is a lovely house that has gone through 5 owners since 2011, two of them banks. There have been two foreclosures. Last winter’s taxes are past due. At one point, the taxes were over $7000 a year, though not that much right now. Chicago Street is the main drag through town with quite a bit of trucking going through as it’s also U.S. 12. I would dearly love to see someone come in and really take care of it.

Picking jaw up off the floor, this house is a treasure, a present waiting to be loved, it’s got everything, except maybe a clawfoot, that’s an easy do. Oh my goodness at that price too!!!!!!

Beautiful home !! First I would fill in the pool and use that tax money to redo the bathroom and the drop in living room .

Beautiful house and wonderfully intact except for the kitchen and baths, as usual.

Designed by local architect Asbury W. Buckley and built for $9000. The clients were John Thompson Starr (1861-1908) and his wife Belle, who raised their sons John and Rex here. Starr was a merchant and banker, the son of the founder of the Coldwater National Bank, and captain of the local bicycle club.
After his early death, their sons moved away, Belle sold the house and moved in with her parents.

An 1889 book about Coldwater has illustrations of the house and Starr’s hardware store:
