    OK

Can someone explain what the cabinets above or next to the fireplace would be used for? I notice them a lot in this period of homes.

My best guess is a place to let your bread dough rise. Dough won’t rise if it is too cold in the house and they made their own bread daily back then. We keep our house chilly in the winter so if I want dough to rise, I put it in my car that is sitting in the sun, lol. I don’t think it would be the family bible because heat is not good for books. Heat dries out leather and the paper will wrinkle and become brittle.

Good Morning! I’Ve heard two versions, both from knowledgeable historians; bible cabinet and ink well storage so the ink did not freeze during the winter months.

Lucky new owner. This is a beautiful home and Simsbury is a super town.

This will sell. I know this area well. With the price they are asking the seller, for some reason, is “extremely motivated” as they say in the biz. I was stunned when I saw the price.

Simsbury is a wonderful town/ location. I hope someone great gets this house! The kitchen is almost the blue I was going to do in my renovated kitchen… and then I chickened out and got white… like everyone else…

I’m late finding this. Somebody else should not be able to buy this house — it is meant to be MINE! Wonderful! Yes, Simsbury is a super town in a lovely part of CT.
