Springside is one of Catskill's finest historic homes. Isaac Pruyn was owner of the Catskill Mountain Railway-to the Catskill Mountain House, made famous by Thomas Cole & Hudson River School (and neighbor just down Spring Street). He expanded this once small farmhouse in 1810, named after the sweet water spring and pond that is still on the property and supplied the village with water in the 18th century via wooden conduits. In the early 1950s, the home had further additions and was transformed from a Victorian to a Georgian/Colonial. Grand entry hall, four bedrooms with en suite baths, plus a home office/studio, den, study, formal dining room and double parlors. Original stained glass windows, pocket doors and Classical Revival details throughout. New gas boiler with on demand hot water and professional appliances just installed. Although still a restoration in progress, many updates have been made to the home and the income-generating carriage house. A 2 acre mini-estate of heirloom apple, vegetable gardens and pond. Walking distance to town, river, 10 mins to Hudson's Amtrak.
