Still here!

Added to OHD on 1/8/16 - Last OHD Update: 9/30/19 - 215 Comments
This post is for my newsletter subscribers and Twitter followers or anyone else wondering. I have pneumonia and don't know how much longer I'll be from posting. Hopefully soon but I've never had this before and don't know when the "good enough" days start. I appreciate the well wishes so far and hope this will be over soon so I can get back to work. Thanks for your patience. :) -Kelly

    Kelly,

I’m so sorry to hear it! Take all the time you need, everyone will just be all that much more appreciative when you come back!

Besides, everyone can keep themselves occupied with all the fanastic old houses on here already.

Yours is the second e-mail in my morning box with messages of pneumonia! I am glad you are recuperating taking the time it takes. There is nothing more important than your health and pneumonia is a serious illness. I hope you feel better, all better, soon. I have appreciated your work very much – but not without you feeling good doing it! Take good care. Get better. Be well.

Kelly, you will probably begin to feel that you are getting over it and want to jump up and do something….don’t! That’s what happens with pneumonia. Rest, rest and wait until you are feeling good for several days before you start jumping in and doing something. Been there several times. Hoping you will be back to your old self soon. Get well wishes sent your way!

Since I am like everyone else and going through OHD withdrawals, would you ever consider having a forum like this where everyone could put one house entry in that is their idea of a OHD property? This way we could entertain each other until you get back.

Hey Sue, that church is pretty rad, and at that price maybe somebody will buy it just to save it from being pulled down, or to store their hoard, (like on “Pickers”).

Thanks Rosewater/Jeff – a great bunch of links!

Agree on Stamford NY – we looked at that one last year and it’s troubling that it’s still on the market – https://www.oldhousedreams.com/2014/12/12/1898-queen-anne-stamford-ny/

The Ottumwa IA house is very impressive, well-preserved and quite a bargain! There’s some amazing glass and woodwork there – deserving of NRHP recognition IMO.

They keep adding pix to the Ottumwa listing, so check back and you might see more.

On a side note; best wishes also for John Foreman. Checked his blog this morning, and he has posted that his cancer is out of remission and eating up his spine. Ugh.. http://www.big-old-houses.com/

Good Lord! Praying for him to grant you the blessing of healing; we really need you and OHD. Hang in there and take care, seriously. Sending you all the positive energy possible for a prompt recovery. I’m glad you are under professional care in the hospital given the seriousness of your condition. I finally have the power to moderate comments but it’s going take a while to get through them. So if yours don’t show up it’s because it’s still in moderation. Kelly you poor thing!

With my Lyme disease I have a very compromised immune system. Something I depend on and have found works miracles in healing and staying well is Elderberry syrup. The berries offer very strong antiviral and immune stimulating properties.

β€œViruses multiply by invading our cells through their hemagglutinin spikes. These spikes allow them to penetrate the cell membrane and move in and take control the cell. Elderberry contains a potent antiviral agent called antivirin which helps neutralize the activity of the hemagglutinin spikes. When these spikes are deactivated, the viruses are no longer able to get inside of the cell and replicate”

I make my own but you can have someone pick it up for you at the health food store.
Here is more info and a recipe. Feel better soon.

    http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Rockledge_FL_32955_M61634-69876
I live in this neighborhood and know the house well, the only changes are enclosed front porch and siding. That’s a J.W. Fiske statue in the front yard. The upper windows look funny because the owner left the hurricane shutters up. Price reflects 85 feet on Florida Intra-coastal Waterway. Address is 709 Rockledge Drive, Rockledge Fl

A Florida recovery might help the pneumonia it was 79 at midnight on New Years Eve.

    Dear Kelly,
I have never posted on the site before, but when I read you were sick and in the hospital, I knew I had to write. You and the others who comment have validated me. My family thought I was nuts for searching for old homes and then boring them to death with all the details. Then, I found your site and quickly realized that I was not alone in my love of old homes or in my searches. I read the comments and feel that the homes and the details of them are all I need. I don’t need to discuss them with family any longer. So I guess you could say that I have an “Old Home Dreamers” Family now.
I hope you get well quickly and start feeling like yourself. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Thank you for everything,
    Carolyn WP

So sorry about your blood clots. I had a PE, was on Lovenox injections, then Coumadin for two years – now I’m ok. Quick story – when I was in med school living in a garage eating Top Ramen, my Lovenox was $150 a day (way back then). I was in church and only had $10. Asked the church to pray for me because I didn’t have enough for my next shot and put my last $10 in the bag hoping God would send me the money. Next morning I went for my PT/INR blood test and the doctor couldn’t believe it…I was normal!!! God didn’t give me money, he saved me! So, just know my prayers are with you for HIS will for your health.

Feeling more tired than you thought you would? That’s pneumonia, and that’s why we all said rest, rest, rest. If working on the website makes you feel good, then enjoy it, but don’t push yourself to get things all caught up. If you have to lie around and watch old movies, that’s normal. Just eat some healthy food and take naps and don’t rush it. I’ve been thinking about you every day, and clearly a lot of other people have been too. This is a situation in which the internet has brought us together as friends even though we are scattered over the globe and may never meet. You may get tired of people telling you to eat chicken soup, but I know that everybody just wants the best for you. Rest rest rest.
