Oh my goodness! I actually said WHOA when I clicked on the first picture of the inside. This place is fabulous! Right down to the Trompe L’Oeil horse in the first picture. And yes, it fooled me.

    I like the vintage kitchen!

From the outside it doesn’t look like there’d be so much room inside. I really love this church! One would probably have to get one of those “online minister” certificates as real estate taxes are probably ridiculous since it’s in New York 😉

So much potential here! The materials inside are stunning, the light is warm, size is good. I’d just love to get to work on it. The outside is gorgeous, simple & graceful. Its location appears to be peaceful & shady. Kelly’s coming up with tons of houses I wish I could buy!

When former churches have come up for sale, unless bought for the original use as a place of worship, adaptive re-use requires a creative, often artistic approach. This former church shows that creative adaptive approach very well. It’s an “open concept” loft style residence as well as an artist studio and gallery. Because the structure comes with a historical narrative plaque, the owner(s) has respectfully preserved the original interior details demonstrating good stewardship of a historic property. Seems reasonably priced and my only concern might be the costs for keeping the interior warm in New York winters.

Does it come with a graveyard? Now that would be awesome.

A graveyard was my first thought. They are so interesting. No mention was made of one, but there must have been a graveyard at some point for this delightful church.

I don’t see a graveyard in the aerial view of the church. Could be everyone was buried in a city graveyard and this church never had one.

Does this “house” have a bathroom? I don’t see it in the photos, and am just wondering if this is something that would have to be added. Is the wood/pellet stove the only source of heat? Is there a basement?

I would like to turn it back into a church install a organ and choir and bring people back to worship.
