I looked on the county tax parcel maps to see the 2 acre outline of the property but it’s still showing the inclusion of the orchard. I’m guessing it’s not officially for sale, could not find any listings for the orchard. I couldn’t see buying this without it! 🙂

    So, the ask is $298,900.

I am guessing that is $298,898 for the garage, and $1.98 for the house?

(Note: I am not being serious. I love the house. But that be some garage!)

Perfect for us. Lovely old house for me, endless happy puttering in the garage for him.

Wow. This is wonderful. If only I wanted to live in Alabama!
Kitchen is very dark though, I would think if the cabinets had been made in a color that would break up some of the stained wood (which I do love- but the eye needs a break here)

The front “mansard” roofline seems inconsistent with eth high pitched gabels. Makes me wonder if this started out as a smaller cottage and was greatly expanded over the years?

Not a fan of the wood walls (nor all the taxidermy on the walls). The parlor chandelier is definitely a keeper. I do like the garage since I’m going to be building one on our Logansport project , this one looks a lot like the size I want.

Interesting house overall, especially of you like country living.

This house has something of a plan book flavor to it. It superficially reminds me of the O. Henry museum house in Austin, TX which has a very similar gable brace. The archway inside is another formal touch which adds weight to the idea this design may have come from a published source (designs for cottages like this were often featured in The National Builder magazine) In any case, with the large garage, two acres, and a nearby orchard (not included) the property has possibilities.

    Underground greenhouse? That sounds fascinating!

I am excited to report the home was purchased along with the orchard. They found the house here on OHD! 🙂

    Congratulations to the new owners!
