The porches look delicious, and largely intact. Nice. Nice!

The interior, too, looks largely intact (what little we get to see).

    Love the big lot.

The roof is in poor condition; streetview suggests the house hasn’t been lived in for some time. The intricate gingerbread porch ornament was all available from millwork catalogs of the period. What’s surprising here is to find it in such good condition. Looks like a separate small cottage was attached in the back, most likely for an on-premises cook or house maid. Clean up the landscaping around the house and it would be far more appealing. The large one acre plus lot is another plus but the house lacks a cohesive residential context around it and may be in an increasingly commericialized area if there’s growth in that area. However, the price seems reasonable for what is offered.

I live up the street. Many empty homes in area. Commercial property abutting this one was the dialysis center, but now the town owns it. Town has not decided how to use the center.

The soffit on the one side looks pretty shot. I do see a lot of work here. Porch is the bright spot. Having cleaned up a house with a lot in this condition, the new owner has many, many, months of yard work ahead.

If you are young and have lots of energy, or old with deep pockets, this looks like a worthwhile project. Get that yard work done BEFORE the long hot summers!

it would be great to see this old house restored and the yard cleaned up. sad condition. It will take lots of elbow grease to get this place in good condition. If I was younger and had the money, I would have considered it.

Here’s another in Fairfax, a Victorian cottage for $25,000. The bathroom & kitchen are pitiful, but there are nice sized rooms, pretty fireplaces, and gracious proportions. It might make a nice playhouse for somebody to use on the weekends. http://www.homes.com/property/475-10th-st-w-fairfax-sc-29827/id-220648681/
