Lovely home. Good bones and lines.

Love all the unpainted woodwork, door, and floors.

Hickman is your classic small town. It is just south of Lincoln, the state capital, and close the Omaha.

The swing on the laundry line is sweet!

Nice house with clean lines & good bones. Interesting cabinet & drawer arrangement in the kitchen — I’d love to talk to whoever put that in. My fave thing is the circle top window in front with the one (3) below it. Reminds me a little of “American Gothic.” It’s a little piece of style by the builder of a comfortable convenient farmhouse.

Great house. I’d almost want to jack it up and put a new basement under it though. I like watching the videos but am I the only one who gets queasy with all the swinging around and jerky movements?

I’m with you, Carolyn! It’s hard to watch handheld videos sometimes, but I really give this realtor credit for doing what he could as far as a “virtual tour”. I kept wishing he would pan up, though, so I could see higher on the walls and the ceilings!

would love to see this home once it is restored. if I had the money I would buy it and restore it to its original simply beauty. love all the wood work.

This area has a lot of people who came from more alpine areas in Europe and you see a little bit of a “chalet influence” in the Roofline with the gentle flaring of the eaves. These European influences often appear in areas with large Bavarian of Finnish populations. You see several of these in Cincy for example.

This house has really good woodwork. Looking at the basement , the furnace appears to be missing and its cast iron pipe to the water heater so I’m guessing the water lines have not been updated.

Big concern here is with water in basement. If you notice they have replaced one of the jacks in the basement because the old one is rusted through. If you note the bottom of the staircase coming into the basement it is similarly rotted meaning standing water in the basement for regular and extended times. Could be the way the gutters are run or it could be a foundation failure so anyone would want to pay alot of attention to that.

Interior wise is mostly cosmentc but you will probably need electrical upgrades but a good electrician can fish wires. Most of the expense will be anew roof, mechanicals and whatever the problem with the basement is, but all the original woodwork offsets the amount of restore work you have to do.

Listing removed as of today – maybe sold already. House has 5 antique-style lightning rods.

I vote that everyone who is putting an old house up for sale walk through with a video camera.
