Jaw on the floor. Wow. The house. The grounds. The furniture, which isn’t my style at all. I love it. Don’t tell me it isn’t authentic because I don’t care.

When you’re trying to sell a 3 BR house in the country for $1.75MM you need to have excellent photos, a good video and … a web-site: http://www.hallchristyhouse.com

That top photo was the most unassuming little country house which I would drive right past… but then the land and the interior? BAM! What a quiet, lovely, privately awesome property.

I’m incredibly sad to say the home burned a few months ago. The property is back up for sale minus the awesome home.

Facebook post that it was on fire.

    Aerial view of burned home.

That’s a real shame. The new owners paid $800k and are offering the lot for $329k, so it’s likely nothing more than accidental, possibly careless. Sad that the prior owners put so much into it for 30 years only to have it burn within 3 months of new ownership.
Perhaps there’s another old home on an undesirable spot nearby that could be moved to this beautiful site.

The Quaker builder of the home was Peter John Hall (1717-1782). His great-grandson was a physician who delivered and cared for some of my ancestors at Woodstock NY, and his daughter married into our family there.

What a terrible loss! I worry that this could happen with my house. The old wood is SO dry, once a fire got started I don’t know how you’d ever stop it. The insurance company won’t insure it for what it would cost to rebuild, if you could even find the craftsmen and materials to do that.
