Yea, two Gothic Revivals in one day! The front facade is great and classic…love the board nd batten siding and the trefoil window and the vergebaords, but, yeah, it woould have been nice to see if there’s anything original left inside.

I grew up in this town and always loved this house. It over looked the river and was until recently very nicely kept. I moved away 12 years ago so don’t know why it is now in such disrepair. So sad.

Never tire of Gothic Revival. Even the best –and best preserved– of them are often only tangentially gothic in their interiors; the exuberance of the exterior often stops at the front door and inside it’s more a series of rather chaste, more or less Greek Revival, rooms.

If the scant interior shots of some very plain rooms are any indication of the other spaces, I might be inclined to introduce some gothic revival enhancements and bring the interior closer to the promise of the exterior (not as a rule a good idea, but…) Hopefully I’m wrong and it’s down to poor photo selection criteria that values $89 bathroom vanity units and sheet vinyl flooring above historic details. I hope it finds a old house buyer who sees the purchase price as a small first step toward bringing the house back to good order.

the outside reminds me of the Gothic Archs Bed and Breakfast in Aurora IN. It was for sale when we bought out house. We had stayed there before it went up for sale. We fleetingly thought of buying it but it was right in town and had no property to it.

I purchased a gothic revival about a mile up the road from this house and looked at it before I bought the one I’m restoring now….that house is full, and I mean FULL of mold. It will most likely end up being torn down.
