Although this is not a major landmark home, the almost plain vanilla wrapper exterior inside reveals an interesting turn of the last century interior with nice period details. To make this house impressive again, some work to return the exterior to its original appearance (porches?) is needed, IMO. It’s priced well for a two story house on an acre and a half size lot.
Given that this house has nicely preserved woodwork, it is odd that so much of it
was done away with. When the original double hung windows were replaced with modern
casements, the interior window casings were replaced with under scaled modern trim.
The vertical emphasis of the windows from the exterior, modern replacement siding and
enclosed front porch give a rather sterile feeling to the exterior.
I agree, with the original windows and trim and porches, this house would be a showstopper. I am a woodwork junkie, and this house is pretty special. Just love the interior columns. Shame about the windows!
I love the painting on the fireplace! Someone send it to me!
