662 S Highland Ave, Merion Stations, PA 19066

Welcomestone is a circa-1888 stone house attributed to acclaimed American architect Frank Furness and located on Philadelphia's Main Line. A big front porch with an imposing Dutch door at its center opens to a grand foyer, where the main stairwell features an exquisite, original stained-glass window. The millwork throughout the house, the designs in the stained glass and various exterior design elements are but a few hallmarks of Furness's work. To the left of the foyer is a formal living room with a stone fireplace. Just beyond is a charming curved "tower" room, sure to be a favorite reading nook. A sizable formal dining room, kitchen originally designed for household staff, sun porches and rear stairwell complete the first floor. Upstairs, four bedrooms, including a main suite with a private sun porch with Mercer tile fireplace, spoke off of a large landing. The landing also provides access to a screened sleeping porch. The third floor presently is divided into four rooms, including the top level of the rounded turret, and has a full bath. On a generously sized lot with mature specimen trees and located just a five-minute walk from the train station, this very special residence, owned by the same family since 1937, is now ready and waiting to be a prized home for its next generations of owners.
