An exceptional Italianate exterior. Connecticut was an epicenter for the style and has some of the finest examples. However, I’m not crazy for the alterations: the pair of arched doorways flanking the dining room fireplace, the big glistening techy radiators flanking the vestibule/center hall doors, and the sun room is a disappointment with its big window-little window rhythm and the unpainted beaded board (I actually like beaded board – in the right place), and the techy kitchen and 1980s mod lighting. Not great photos, but no doubt the original main rooms are nice spaces still, with good proportions and high ceilings.

The front facade is fairy-tale wedding cake fancy, and I for one like it to the furthest and smallest bit of icing. I am not sure how much of that center outthrust of porch, window and semi-circle overhang is original, but I don’t care: spectacular and thought provoking.

I went to school in this house from 1980 – 1986.
