1851 would have been very late for a log cabin in Tennessee. In any case, there appears to be some good “bones” here for a renovation or interperative restoration. Maybe the introduction of some minimal Greek Revival trim or a simple, folk-style mantel or two would help tie the house in to the Antebellum period. Almost an acre of land to work with too.

I love the split log look. I think if I were to by a cabin, I would so want it to have that rustic split log look.

Ooooh, this one’s got great potential! Could be turned into a still rustic but very nice home. Looking down from the stairway, it appears that there were never any logs where the front door of the current house is. All you can see is clapboards there with the outside showing through. This and the fact that there are interior windows opening into the central hallway make me wonder if this place didn’t start out as one of those dogtrot houses. They were fairly common in Tennessee back then, weren’t they?
