fantastic opportunity--original school house built in 1909 that has an addition added in the 50's. School still has original features including chalkboards, wood floors, stairs, wainscoting, etc. Very well built, needs interior udpating. Live in newer addition and fix up original school house. Living quarters has heat and air-open concept. For the right person a great opportunity. Only living space dimensions included

Good thing for my husband we don’t live in Indiana 🙂 He already thinks I’m nuts … but that school is so cool!

Old Schools and old (vacant) Churches are everywhere these days but few of either will get restored and continue to survive in another purpose. Just this past weekend my spouse and I travelled to Bartlett, TX to look at the cool old Church posted here recently. The whole town looks like that-frozen in time. It too has a huge old school building being underutilized. Here a look as some highlights: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11236515@N05/sets/72157627804861346/

So many vacant old schools poses a serious problem and should be supported with special tax credits for those wishing to adaptively reuse them and preserve their character, IMO.

Nice pics of Bartlett – stuck in time for sure. I don’t know which is more sad, to have old structures knocked down, or to see them neglected until they collapse. Seems like more of the latter in Bartlett.

Drove by this place 9/22/2014. All windows have been replaced and someone is living there.
