Posting this one because of that heavenly view. Check out the street view, it’s not the best quality but wowzers, I’d never leave.

The Dalles is really pretty and with its proximity to the river, makes it a popular place to visit. Lots of early Oregon history in the area, Lewis and Clark camped there on the way to the Pacific.
This house definitely has potential. Could do with pics of kitchen and baths.

Now, hat is a porch I could sit on and drink coffee every morning.

I’m with you, jeklstudio. As far as these pictures reveal, some paint, carpet removal, and good flooring work could do wonders for this house. That view more than makes it worth the hard work to make the cosmetic changes.

Don’t hate me but I’m digging that green floral wallpaper in the entry along with that 1970’s (right?) hanging staircase. I’d keep those, if possible. 😀

I like it too!!! You could keep it and let it set the tone for the rest of the house.

I absolutely do NOT hate you for that! The hanging staircase would definitely stay for me. There is no way I would tear that out. I would just see if a skilled professional (which I am not) could make those steps wood (or wood-like) and get rid of the carpet.

I also really liked the crazy wallpaper in the photo from the living room showing the staircase. I’m glad someone else said it, because I thought I had temporarily lost my mind. 😀 😀 That is an excellent example of colors blending well together.

Just get rid of the carpet is all I would do.

        I dig it too!

I don’t hate you for liking the wallpaper, but I’m still considering the staircase, LOL. Although not a fancy beauty, I agree this could be a very nice house with a little cosmetic work and well worth it for that view. Looks like a slice of heaven to me.

This house is very special for those hills alone, especially in that dreamy light. I too would ditch the carpet, and get rid of what I assume is wood veneer paneling. I love the mod stairs… just not in this old home. Love the way that old tree and this old house have lived side by side assumingly without any missgivings…same could be said for the tiger and the turkey clan in the side yard. I too love the wallpaper, but think it is much earlier than the 1970s. Smile

Sorry folks, but for me the wall paper has to go as does the floating staircase. I mean no disrespect but this whole house needs serious brightening-up! Love the cougar and the turkeys eying each other. The view is wonderful!

love nearly everything about the place, but that carpet would have to go

. o 0 (could learn to live with the wallpaper if I had to)

as for the floating stair case, the jury is still out on that as it looks like an ankle twister in the making

bonus points for the kitchen, fireplace and what looks like a root cellar jejejeje

I don’t know that the staircase is floating. I think it’s an optical illusion caused by the wallpaper, the horrible carpet and the flat brown paint on the wood there. The staircase can stay, the hat trick of wallpaper, painted wood and carpet has to go. The porch, the view and the adorable root cellar would make it worth the time and effort to spruce her back up. That area of Oregon is just lovely, and not so far from Portland when you need a city fix. The drive is just beautiful.
