Truly a southern charmer from the front porch to the screened porch on the back. Two story home with a balcony to enjoy the summer nights. Lovely hardwood floors. Updated bathrooms. Quiet tree lined street in the heart of Faison. Walk to restaurants and other stores.

The house form and some details suggest an earlier than 1885 date but unless that matters for some particular purpose, the house itself stands on its own merits. The double galleried porches are an especially fine feature. Doesn’t appear that too much modernization has occurred inside and the exterior seems virtually intact and original. Assuming the location is suitable, the house has lots of potential, in my opinion.

I don’t understand why the stairs are not the focal point upon entering the front door? Was it a normal practice to have them facing the opposite direction?

I also asked and was told by the Galveston Historical Foundation that some architects/builders did not want the stairs coming down to the front door (especially if the foyer was on the smaller side) because they did not want visitors to see up the ladies dresses!
