Description from the listing:
The Delos Chappell-Stewart House from 1883 was considered modern architecture in its era. With conscious carpentry detail that resulted in both Gothic and Eastlake variations this home stands out as a combination of influences. It is a jewel of the Stuart Historic District. Its owners have painstakingly shellacked the interior woodwork, have lovingly restored the gorgeous stained glass windows, and have preserved the heritage of its one-of-a-kind use of different woods for each room. This is not just a museum of 19th century artisanship but a true working home; custom-made cherry cabinetry throughout the modern kitchen with double ovens, gas cooktop, buffet servers, and pantry (with original doors and hardware). No expense was spared in replicating the ornate wall coverings or preserving the fireplaces. No detail has been overlooked in the exterior maintenance (including all copper gutters) or the lavish grounds surrounded by a Lee Ironworks fence. This is a home for the ages.

  1. Wow, totally unique and generally awesome! Even that iron fence is a one of a kind. Great colors, too.

  2. Not usually my bag, but very endearing and expressive. Wish the owners had allowed the architecture to speak more clearly than the decor inside.

  3. Love it! It even has crosses on the chimney to keep out vampires! lol It’s definitely over-the-top on the inside, but it seems to work o.k. here.
