It appears as though this hose was frozen part way through a renovation. The staircase is a work of art, and the mantlepiece is lovely. Very much a home worth saving with a sensitive renovation-restoration.

I’m concerned about the missing hood over the front door. I hope it was recent, say, 1915-1930, because there were many such hoods in the Hudson valley, I have an antiques architectural history on hoods and porches, perhaps 1 1/2 inches thick – that were contemporary with the Federal era, but appear to be early to mid 20th century.

So much to be saved here! It needs somebody who values its spare beauty. The floorboards alone make me want to move in. Photos taken on a luminous New York State fall day are a pleasure too. Rhinebeck is a lovely town in an equally gorgeous part of the state.

The fall foliage makes me very homesick for the east coast, but only during the fall season. That’s the one thing missing here in Southern California.
