I’d happily live here. It’s rare you see a big house from this period with an equally spacious garden – they’re often on corner lots in downtown areas with limited outdoor space. This house has plenty of room to spread out outside as well as in. Beautiful mature trees, as well. Nice.

What a great house with loads of charm and original details. I love all the woodwork, still in it’s original look. I was initially bothered by the dormer in the attic……..then I looked at the street view. (Thank you for that, Kelly. That feature is always greatly appreciated!) You can see what the original dormer in the attic looked like on the street view and how it fits into the architecture and original intent of the architect! This is a must to restore back, in my opinion!

Very nice. Property is beautifully done. I love that several rooms have the original picture rail trim. Millwork is beautifully original. Nothing really I don’t care for. However I do agree with Michael, I would definitely want to restore the original dormer and probably change out that blue bathroom wallpaper….it’s a bit “electric” for me. Wonderful home though.

  5. This is my mom’s hometown, they were living there when I was born, most of her family still lives there. It’s most known in WI as rodeo city- and you would have a front row seat for the annual rodeo parade. A nice little town, one small grocery store, a drive-in (that’s it for dining besides Subway and the steak house) and now a dollar store, there is one large employer there, but otherwise any good paying jobs you would have to commute to the Fox Valley- about 45 minutes away. The city of Waupaca (about 20 minutes SW) has a few more options for shopping, but the nearest big box stores are in the Valley too, as Waupaca just lost Kmart and now has just Fleet Farm and two grocery stores, and lots of fast food. If you like small-town living and have the money for this house, definitely I would recommend. In the background of one photo here you can see the main street, off which this house sits. Everything you need in Manawa is basically in that 2-3 block space, but the bowling alley is back down the street at the entrance to town, same as the rodeo grounds.
