Everything is original which will make some buyers who love to restore and keep the historic story alive will love this find. The current seller has had the roof replaced and the electric service box along with some electric since there purchase. They have also done painting and much needed clean up. I was really worried about this one when it was for sale a few years ago. Glad the new owner had a roof put on!

It appears to be high quality steel roofing, guaranteed for lifetime. Good to see the seller was as saver while cleaning out the things that were beyond hope. Pretty great building in a beautiful location.

A really neat old building; a lot of work, but a lot of potential too. Given the new roof and the updated electric service, the price seems reasonable. I’m glad that you linked the old listing in your comment, the extra pictures help fill out the interior. It is a shame that so much of the old tin ceiling has rusted or fell; there may be enough pieces scattered throughout the two levels that you could consolidate it and get at least one large room complete. I would not want that job though; removing tin ceilings is definitely not easy, especially when it is rusty and even more likely to bend, dent or tear up when pulling out the nails.
Anytime the government infringes on private property rights it is a threat to property owners everywhere, but I really wish there was some sort of program that would take possession of old buildings when they are first abandoned and then facilitate the sale to someone with the vision and funds to at least maintain them. A rural school like this may not be on too many folks’ hot list, but then you just never know. Some friends of ours tried for ten years to purchase an old church that had been abandoned since the early 80s, and when the owner passed away, the heirs tore it down before listing the land for sale; the sale price would likely have just covered the cost of demolition…another old building gone forever, and no one wins 🙁

Agree. The government just doesn’t seem to give any time or thought to the old homes. They lay in waste before someone complains and then it’s years to get them to move in any direction. I’ve had that experience too. This old school would make an awesome remodel if the money was there to do it right.
