What a dream! Laura Ingalls country too, right? I remember Pepin/Lake Pepin from some of the books.

I think it is in the first chapter of “Little House on the Prairie”. The Ingalls family cross Lake Pepin from Wisconsin just before the ice goes out in the spring. That’s when I first found out about this part of the Mississippi, reading that book to my daughters. We headed down the Great River Road from Saint Paul the very next day.

I was thinking how nice it would be to sit on the back deck in the morning with my coffee or tea staring at the water. Then I saw the railroad tracks…..that close I do believe it would make the fillings in my teeth rattle & pictures on the walls bang & the tchotchkes skidder across the shelves. It would be like the house had a poltergeist. Hahaha! I still like the thought of sitting on the deck looking at the water.

Yes, Lake Pepin is a lake on the Mississippi River on the Wisconsin/Minnesota border.

Hearing the train whistle would be a bonus for me!

It’s heavenly. I’d let the train go through my bedroom for a view like that.
