LOVE this place! The colors, the built-ins, even the location is fantastic. Craftsman is my favorite and this one is just perfection.

I remember I uncovered a kitchen floor similar to that in my house growing up. Except the main portion was a beautiful blue color, in what I believe they called battleship, and the border was black. It was only about four feet long by 2 feet. The rest had been ripped out and we discovered it under a cabinet put in, maybe in the late 50s or 60s. But I remember thinking how cool that must have looked back in the day when the entire floor was put out with this pattern.

This house is next door to me. My dear friend spent years lovingly restoring it and researching previous owners. It is perfection! Both my house and this one was featured in a Historic Preservation tour. We had previous residents of our homes come through and share their stories about living here.

Thank you, homeowner, for listening to what a house like this wants.

Hey, Kelly, is there any way to put in a real estate contract that a historic house cannot have its history altered by flippers (ie. painting all the wood)?

I’m not sure how far it would go. I think you could to the person you sell it to but I’m not sure the next buyer would be held to that. I’m not a lawyer but maybe someone that understands contract laws can tell us.

You can put deed restrictions on for a number of reasons, but you need someone to come and inspect that the owner is following the deed. Historic New England did this with many homes they acquired, restored and resold. The restrictions are inspected annually by them. One of my old house friends owned such a house for 23 years. It made it more difficult to sell when the time came.

Stop right now. Nobody gets to buy this house but me! I am in love with this -every single thing is perfection. I have a 1915 Craftsman in Old Towne Orange CA and been wanting to relocate to WA. I love WA state. I just told him-pack a bag, we need to fly to Spokane asap…but who’s going to watch my 2 corgis? LOL. This house is stunning. The loving owners deserve a big hand and a medal of appreciation for doing the right thing. Thank you oldhousejunkie for your comment, it just makes me more convinced that I need this wonderful home.

I simply adore the library/inglenook. Couldn’t be any better. Give me a comfy chair, a cuppa and a book and I’m happy.

Kudos to the owner for the nice job they did in restoring and caring for this home. I am familiar with this part of town. It is a great neighborhood with a lot of charming houses such as this one.
