With a little elbow grease and some TLC, this home could be magnificent once again! The house still has so much of the character and charm the builder put into it. The woodwork in the living room and dining area still remain and look amazing. Creative built ins and other attributes just add to the charm. The home has 2 fireplaces with rare tilework and detailed hearths. There is a large kitchen and informal dining area. From the kitchen you have a mudroom/entryway that connect directly to the 2 car garage. The laundry area is on the first floor as well. The second floor has 3-4 bedrooms, with the master bedroom having a large walk in closet. The home is situated on 6.7 acres that once was pasture land for livestock, and would be perfect for those who want horses.

This looks like a really nice house and land
    Especially for the price.
    But location location location.
The winters in Maine can be very brutal and severe cold and snow and short spring and summer.
But I can’t hardly believe it is such a nice house with attached garage and over six acres of land.

This may have been a D.S. Hopkins design. There was obviously an addition to the back of the house and a couple other little differences. So i cant say with exact certainty but it is pretty likely. Is there a way i can add the picture from the plan book so people can make their own conclusion?

We all know this old houses come with special guests. Look at picture #10 it is just right there by the fireplace. We just learn to share the house. Very interesting!

Beside that the mechanical in the basement looks a bit complicated.

Looks like a reflection in a cheap camera lens. And yes, plumbing & heating can be intimidating if you don’t know what you’re looking at.

This is a fantastic house which may have basic issues, but it seems like a steal at this price! The late 20th C. updates would have to go for me, though completely doable taking them one at a time.

I agree. I’d take this in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so far to the north! Such warm honey colored wood throughout is nice too. The property there is beautiful and looks so peaceful. Again, the winters!!! Yikes!

This house has some unusual features I can’t figure out what their purpose is . Would love to see it in person ! I live in Maine but I never heard of Van Buren … got to look it up on the map.
