Local lore has it that a man, who had moved from New Orleans to York, SC in an effort to improve his health, built this house around 1850. I wasn’t able to track down a name, although one source lists it as the Wallace/ Rosy house. The home appears in a 1912 photograph just as it is presented today with various Greek Revival elements and perhaps a New Orleans Gothic influence as well.

“This grand home shines with remarkable elegance and ageless beauty.” Couldn’t have said it better. That two-story wrap-around porch dominates with grace. I’d love to see the details of the posts and rails. What a show-stopper.

Wow- what a beautiful well cared for home. Makes me want to move to SC (although the heat and humidity- blah). Fabulous property as well.

A truly artistic and eclectic dwelling. I love the dreamy exterior and plantings of this romantic southern home. The trees and flowering shrubs are part of a movie set for this plains dwelling writer. And then to arrive in a sophisticated setting that has hints of travel, humorous sculptural pieces and delicate knowledge of texture and design, Well! I am almost speechless. Not quite though. Let us remark on the judicious use of antiques, industrial pieces, quirky but cool lighting, and sensitive color palate. This house tells many-layered stories.
