Build date given is 1900 but I believe this is 1880’s to 1890.

    BTW, MI means Michigan. 😀

Seems accurate. There have been some later alterations but the exterior is surprisingly intact. The interior appears to be more of a labor of love. After seeing the nearby mansion, I believe its true that high style begets high style.

I suspect that my reactions are not…normal.

Roof damage? Whatever. I can fix that.

Water damage? Whatever. I can fix that.

    Painted trim? EEEEEEEEEEEK!

    Missing original mantel? EEEEEEEEEEEK!

Ok, it’s good that this town is further away in Michigan. If it was nearby, I’d be there drooling over the houses!!

It’s not too far gone (as far as we can tell), and would be amazing when restored!!

Does anyone else have fantasies about going back in time to towns like this, or just tearing down everything that was built since about 1910 and restoring the rest?

I spend ALL DAY thinking about this while working on my current project house. ALL DAY.

I’ve always said if I could have a super power it would be to travel back in time to see what things looked like then. I’d love to be able to be standing in a spot looking at something and snap my fingers and be there 100+ years or more earlier. I truly think I was born in the wrong era.

Some nice details in this house. Sadly the leaking roof and the lack of repairing it has done some damage to not only the interior walls but the floors as well.

Is it me or does the window in the tower look too small? The proportions don’t seem right.

Poor, sad little house. I just want to give it a big hug and help it!

That low price will pay for a lot of rehabbing. My fingers are getting itchy for a new project
    Too far away.😾

Well done, realtor, for the enthusiastic sales pitch that doesn’t use the word “tear down” even once!

    1885 Italianate.

My husband works for an environmental drilling company and has drilled in this little town. The results are not good, lots of contamination. 🙁 Darling house. The piano looks happy!

Yes! It’s a lovely little town with a lot of beautiful old homes but people need to perform their due diligence before buying a house there. A simple Google search can start things off.
