I miss a good working fireplace, though, with oven. Cool barn and house otherwise and close to the sea! I love the delicately graceful newel post and railing — consider what that meant making, having and using on such a working farm. Was there a mud room?

Some of us prefer electric. 🙂 I’m too clumsy for gas, probably be dead by now if I had access to a gas stove.

Some places don’t have access to gas either. We don’t have natural gas available off the main roads, and even then only so far out of town. Propane is an option, but not all places are built with it, and not everyone wants it. We have electric. Stove, dryer, water heater are electric. Furnace and A/C are geothermal – which is amazing.
Lots of times I would love a gas stove, but then I do something really clumsy and realize it would be a bad idea.
Plus, we have zero sources of carbon monoxide. One less thing to try and kill you.
