Perfection really. I’m not kidding. I literally let out a small gasp at the first picture of the exterior. It’s story book quality.

Gorgeous front elevation; it looks like something from an Edward Hopper painting.

Beautiful home. Wonder what the utilities run a month.

Or how much fire wood is necessary to survive. It is splendid. Perfect. But, I don’t know snow.

Found an interesting take on what it’s like to move from outside Nova Scotia.

Apparently cost of living is exorbitant as well as utilities, general government-funded necessities and the taxes are nuts.

Whoa. Not sure what happened for this person to have such bad experience but that is not the typical experience for the Maritimes. The only thing I can agree with is that yes, our drivers are now terrible. I say now because It’s only been in the past five years or so that it has gotten worse. I have many reasons why, but that is for another post. And yes, electricity rates are way too high and we all know that. Not sure why she/he is complaining about taxes because our rates are similar to most of Canada, except for Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Oh well, we have lots of new arrivals that are more than happy to live here. 🙂

Yeah, that’s just one persons experience. You could probably change where they are talking about and insert any city, there’s always someone that can find a reason to not like an area in any part of the world. It’s not always the way one person sees or experiences it for everyone.

We live less than two hours driving plus a one hour ferry ride away on Prince Edward Island, have visited Maitland. If anyone wants firsthand information about this region, I’m happy to provide any help I can. Cheers

Nova Scotia is a wonderful place with scenery galore. This house is such a beauty. Halifax has a huge naval base with an influx of people. Cape Breton has a large Scottish population so referring to the people as Klanish would be a HUGE COMPLIMENT. The summers are pleasant and an escape from the heat of the SW or South in the USA. Definietly an outdoor’s person dream. I’d buy this house in a NY minute, except I have come to realize, I’m too old “to do the digging your car out and shoveling the drive” (snow in general). I’d encourage anyone, who is serious about moving to this oasis, to jump on this property because I’d be surprised if it was available come full-on Spring!

Where was this house when I was looking several years back. It is so beautiful. Had it been in the market back then I would have been there before you could blink an eye. Love snow and there is a river too. This breaks my heart. I hope the person who buys it takes care of it and appreciates the History.
