There are some older listing photos on Movoto including one showing a nice original butler’s pantry: https://www.movoto.com/starkey-ny/39-main-st-starkey-ny-14837-486_r133205/

Linked up to in the link section is the bed and breakfast website with an old photo and the history.

Whoee, I was not expecting that massive marble fireplace in the foyer! This is a beautiful home. The staircase is amazing and the entire house has escaped the white paintbrush too. Not being interested in running a B&B, I would love to visit with a set of original plans to explore how this looked before all the new bathrooms were added. Many Kudos to the owners for the work they have done.

Did I miss the “sliding glass overhead door system”?

I can’t find anything that appears to be what they are talking about, either. Anyways what ARE they talking about? I can’t even picture it in my mind . . .

Ah, mystery solved – Thank you! (I, too, was fooled by the realtor’s idea of a library.)

And yet another New York treasure – Thank you, Kelly!

The overhead door system is located in the little room with bookcase on the landing of the staircase. The Movoto listing gives a better picture of it. I imagine it was necessary due to the problems inherent in having a door opening onto the landing. I love the butler’s pantry!

Good Work MISTERMICELY! I spent a half hour digging and couldn’t find a thing. I don’t think one should really refer to that little landing space as a “library”; and the thing the agent is describing is probably a jib door/window. You can see it raised with the handles visible in the photo you mentioned here:

      Nicely done MICELY. ๐Ÿ™‚

The stairway is really great with itโ€™s pair of matching newel post, gas/elec. fixtures. Maybe if you light the jets, the primary flight will raise up and โ€œSpotโ€ will pop out and breathe fire at you. Heheheh. ๐Ÿ˜‰
