Historic Home on beautiful 18th street in Mesta Park. Has great original features such as: Hardwood floors, unpainted woodwork downstairs, beamed ceilings in living and dining room, matching stained glass windows in courting area and on landing and top of stairs. Courting area has murals that were painted in the 1920's. Large rooms up and down. One bedroom upstairs has a sunroom at back of house. Large concrete porch and a second floor balcony that looks out over the neighborhood. Downstairs heat and air not working. Walk up attic that could be converted to living space. House needs lots of work and remodeling. Old garage in back needs to be rebuilt--used to enter from alley.

What a neat house. This place would shine, including exterior paint. Street view is good too. Is the style Mission Revival?

It’s missing the Mission style parapet/dormer, not sure if it was removed or never had one.

Something happened to the dormer… its front overhang has been cropped. It’s possible that this house may have started out as a wood-clad Craftsman like its neighbors on that side of the street — and was later stuccoed and given a Mission style porch. Maybe.

My thoughts as well. The porch felt out of place with the main part of the home. I wish the photos were better, I’d love to see more details outside and inside.

There is a lot to like here. The exterior needs a new paint color. Something warmer would be ideal. I’m thinking a peachy cream like some of the missions I’ve seen in California. The street view is lovely. I wish they had included a kitchen photo.

After years of viewing homes on OHD, I have finally determined the one thing that strikes my eye more than any other feature, the one thing that transcends my spirit—-painted murals, particularly those that have a soft, misty, impressionistic style. I would love to go back and spend days and days looking at OHD murals, if only I could recall which houses they were in. I know some Craftsman/Art and Crafts have beautiful murals. I’d welcome any suggestions from my fellow treasure-hunters.

Looks like a great area to live and a strong preservation movement there. I don’t think the house was altered except for the porch which was “Missionized” as if you look at the street view it is obvious that the stucco application doesn’t match at all. DO a Mesta Park search on Zillow or any other website and there are some AMAZING renovations here. Wow. Most at in the 500k plus arena so this is priced right.
