I suspect this is a planbook design, Palliser has one similar. I love that built-in. This is one of the few homes I’ve posted that I’d invite all OHD’ers over for a stripping party. 😀 Build date on record is off, I believe this is mid to late 1880’s (I could be off, it could be early 1890’s as well.)

A stripping party? That would be a first for Old House Dreams. But of course you mean we should bring some paint stripping tools and materials. I too believe this to be a Palliser Bros. design and concur with the 1880’s date. The interior seems very understated but with some TLC the owner could bring back its Victorian exuberance. The exterior looks very nice with its carefully chosen colors. I agree with Randy C. that someone came very close to a fire outside the fireplace with the mantel almost looking charred. It suggests there may be a flue problem or could be from putting in too much combustibles at one time. Scary.

I would like to see a planbook photo or a historical photo. Looks like there must have been some kind of balcony up where that orange/red door is on the 2nd floor. Also looks like the chimney needs to be checked out. The front of that fireplace mantle looks really almost burned. That shouldn’t be happening if the fireplace is working properly. Very attractive house from the street.

I don’t know why, but this poor house makes me want to cry. It badly needs some love.

I sooooo wanted to see a pic from inside the tower with all the stained colored glass windows!! The round trim above the doors is peculiar, wonder if this is original?
