Not so sure about the 1911 build date on record.

Looks like the porch was remodeled around then. Otherwise I’d put the house 1880s.

Its depressed. Although Donora is 20 miles south of Pittsburgh, 28% of those under 18 are living under the poverty line. It looks like maybe the steel and coal industries left, and it their place are lower paying jobs. You’d think, that people who work in Pittsburgh would want a smaller city to live in, but maybe Donora doesn’t have much to recommend it to people making higher salaries. They do have a “Cement District,” where all the houses are made of cement. Other than that, I didn’t see much on Wikipedia to recommend it.

Looks like it’s in the suburbs of Pittsburg

I lived most of my life in the Mon Valley (the valley so named for the Monongahela River running through it) where Donora is loacted between Monongahela and Monessen, which is indeed south of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, others are correct in their findings, I can tell you first hand it is very depressed. The steel industry closed in the early 80’s and only some of the small cities and towns along the river have experienced a rebirth with other industries and vocations. Donora is not one of them. The commute in and out of Pittsburgh is really bad and Donora is just a little too far out for most people. In traffic it’s a good hour into the city at best. It has, like every town, good people who will likely be less than impressed with my post here, but it can’t outweigh the bad points – crime, gang stuff overflowing from neighboring Monessen, which is worse – I mean it’s scary there at night. I wouldn’t want to live there.

You know what I would absolutely KEEP? The wall paper in the foyer! The combination of the chandelier, those gorgeous doors and the dark wall paper really do it for me.

Yes, it feels like the Victorians just walked out the door a minute ago! Fantastic pocket doors and woodwork. I kinda like the funky vintage kitchen. But I’m weird like that.
