The best part of my drive to the beach is passing through Luverne and trying to pick out the prettiest house on Main Street. Luverne reminds me of Mayberry or Maycomb – The kind of town Fannie Flagg would write stories about. I’m excited to finally get to see inside one of those lovely old houses!

I’m not familiar with Alabama but this house made me feel like it was in just the kind of town you described (love Fannie Flagg!). I could see the landscaping cleaned up a bit and rose/lilac bushes in front, with some hanging baskets on the porch. Then, iced tea with friends and neighbors. The inside needs little to make it even more amazing. Great buy for a lucky owner!

Another beautiful Southern home. I can see me in a rocker playing the guitar on the porch here. This is in really good condition to. I know Alabama like the back of my hand and this is a beautiful little town.

Oh gosh! The outside is real, isn’t it? Not imagined? And inside, the front doors, the parlor fireplace! Love.

What’s not to like about this one? How charming! This is exactly what I would love to live in!

Totally agree with Lydia on driving thru Luverne on the way to the beach. This is a charming town full of old homes with lots of character. I said to my husband next time we drive thru Luverne I would like to take some time and drive up and down the streets to look at all the old homes. Seems like a reasonable price for this home.

Posted last year, don’t believe it sold but was taken off market for a short time. Back on, new photos. Moved to front page, comments above may be older.

If you’re headed to north FL beaches and like FannieFlagg, there is a Piggly Wiggly in Milton Fl that does her Whistle Stop Cafe recipe for fried chicken and it’s amazing! Worth the drive! I love folk Victorians. I hope to own one one day. Once you experience the wide hallways and tall ceilings of a folk Victorian, nothing else would do.

Love the porch on this house. Always loved the effect of the “sawed baluster” railings and corner brackets.

I bet women in the day loved those huge kitchen sinks for washing the babes n toddlers. Imagine how much more difficult things were in those day. Running a house was hard work. I think it was nice to stand up and wash a child instead of bent over a bath tub on your knees after a hard day.

I agree! I always bathed my babies in the kitchen sink until they no longer fit. And I continued with my grandchildren! They still say, “Gsmmy, do you remember when?…..This sink looks perfect for that purpose.
