This Historic Treasure has HIT the market. An Architectural Icon for The Garden District. Home sits on three lots with a prestigious presentation. I remember when this home was a substantial duplex back in the 80's. The next owner purchased it and began renovations to make it into a single family mansion. The home was in the process of being redone again but it is need a repairs and TLC. You will love the floorplan and the elegance of the structure, despite it needing the work. There are 5 bedrooms upstairs, three baths up, one additional bedroom and bath on the third level, all of which need to be finished out. The main floor consists of formal livingroom, formal diningroom, study, grand sunroom, game room, and area for the kitchen and breakfast room. There is also a large basement that has plumbing for a 1/2 bath and believe it or not, its dry down there. The original front staircase is so gracious with wide steps, winding into a down and upper foyer. Millwork is still intact in the formal areas with large wood windows over looking the massive grounds for a Garden District home. This could be a TRUE SOUTHERN MANSION for its next owner.

The LA, CA house is really very cute, very small (but liveable for 1 person, *maybe* two), and relative to size – very expensive.

It is very small, but so cute I would buy it in a heartbeat! If I didn’t live in Ohio….and have 2 kids…

It reminds me of the house from the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie from a few years ago! The little neighborhood was very similar and I was obsessed so I googled it 🙂
They were built in 1919 and it was called St Andrews Bungalow Court. Not sure if this is the same little street or not.

It’s not the same street. Here is something about St. Andrews. It’s now housing for the homeless and people with disabilities.

The bungalow courts in L.A. and other California towns, like San Diego, are so cute. I first saw one in the film Swing Shift years ago. That one was in San Pedro.

Oh that’s right! I do remember reading that now, that it is for homeless and people with disabilities. Such a great story!

Wow-grew up in neighborhood with the Baton Rouge home and am pretty shocked to see the condition. The realtor is tops in this area and for only 6 pics (supposing the best of the lot) to be shown this is in quite a state of disrepair. I hope someone can bring her back although the price is somewhat prohibitive given the presumed state of affairs. It used to be a showplace. Great neighborhood. Wow!

The house in Beaumont is pretty mod and surprisingly unremuddled. Part of the ‘tri-cities’ of Port Arthur and Orange, it’s very close to the coast and has lots going for it, a nice art scene, historical interest, etc.
This will appeal to the mid/mod folks. I hope the next owner will forego the urge to paint all that wood white.

Some very attractive homes here! My favorite is the Manistee house. I’d call it Edwardian, not really an architectural term but it fits the home’s nineteen-aughts English feel. Restrained details and a pretty neighborhood too. (Living cherubs not included!)

The description for the Baton Rouge house sounded so intriguing, but there are only six photos. I hope more are added later.

The LA bungalow court house is a pretty good price and location for LA. You would pay much more than that for a decent 2/2 condo in the area. Bungalow courts are pretty endangered in the LA basin and this one looks like it’s in great condition. The little girls in the empty Manistee house is just creepy. Why do people think that’s a good idea?

I agree about the little girls. I haven’t seen children used as props in RE listings before—just cats and dogs. I wondered about the wisdom of putting their images out there like that. Interestingly, the photos are all dated 2013. Maybe those little girls are still sitting there, exactly the same!!

I love the little bungalow court house and I agree it seems like a pretty good price. I bet it will be snapped up quickly.

Moss Avenue in Peoria was and still is a grand residential district of fine period homes. Although I prefer those Moss Avenue homes that date before the early 1900’s this American Foursquare type home is very impressive with its details. Thanks for sharing.

I love all the houses! Stunning each and every one of them! I’d love to live in that cute LA cottage. Just enough space to eat and sleep, and enjoy all that LA has to offer.

Really lovely homes here, Kelly. My favorite is definitely the house in Peoria with that amazing staircase with windows!
