I’ve got at least 300 homes waiting to be in a sampler. Would it be too much for y’all if I did one every other day for a time? Maybe 5 homes at a time. I was going to wait until Sunday for this but I’m sure to forget again.

I enjoy the samplers…….the more the funner!! I’m all for what you’re okay with spending time on. I like the Riverside house a lot, but found myself looking at the landscape for fire likely material. The Westerly house is super…restrained and very livable.

You could put up all 300 at once and we could browse for days…if it’s rainy we could look at 15; on a busy sunny day we could choose 2; if we lose our electricity we could sit for hours in a cold house with a warm iPhone perusing and dreaming.

Surprisingly (to me) I like the Westerly, RI house the best of this bunch. Have never seen fp tile in a basketweave pattern, the kitchen is pretty – light & cheery, etc.

Any way you wish to present them would be wonderful. Your old houses are like chocolate chip cookie dough: good raw, half cooked, fully cooked…

I’d have definite second thoughts on moving anywhere in CA with the drought, smog, megafires and the potential for this place to burn up. I lived in Riverside 40 years ago and the smog then was so bad it made us ill.

I adore California but right now I’d kinda like to live just about anywhere else, I have to admit. I am so so so so so so tired of the drought and the fear of fire. It’s exhausting.

I love that house, too. Beautiful views out the windows! I do understand the concerns about fire. It’s been so scary watching what’s going on in California and how much of the state has been affected.

About the house, I’d be interested to see what the kitchen originally looked like, and probably try to re-create something like it. The one that’s there is too modern and ostentatious. And I’d paint those red walls! Love the green cabinets in the bathroom, though.

The Riverside house “remodeled” in 2003, removing some of the original character defining features. Kitchen remodel, etc. According to Adobes,Bungalows and Mansions” this home was owned by a cast of characters. Riverside is considered earthquake safe (nowhere anymore is fire safe) Th location is a bit close to a freeway-so there may be noise. Riverside has some of the best examples of California architecture A wonderful place.

Kelly, however you want to do it is fine with me. I appreciate your site so much and all the work you do to post it.
The European stuff is great, the Tudors are the best, Spanish, craftsman, castles, homes in Canada, everything. Thanks a bunch!

I am not a fan of southern California but I could bear it if I could live in that Riverside house. It is glorious – I love the vibrant interior colours, it’s eclectic decor and all of the giant stones that envelop it. The exterior almost looks like something you would see in the Italian Alps.

From the moment I saw that pic I knew that house had to be either in Riverside or Pomona! There are some great houses out that way, I could never convince my husband to move that far East, though— and now that we’ve moved to the PNW I don’t think we could ever come back to SoCal (I do miss the architecture, though! Kelly, every time you post something in Southern CA it’s like recognizing an old friend!)

The Riverside home blew me away. There is just so much to see, the exterior is beyond words. It would take me ages to find my way around. Love those large windows with views to die for. Beautiful, just beautiful!!
