abuts historic village Old Salem, NC

This precious structure has steep-pitched roofs to shed the snow and they give it a gingerbread house look that is just charming, as does the blue with white trim outside paint. Now, it is a bit hard to picture the interior with the needed finishing, but it is easier if you pretend that it is a building with pink walls.

It seems that most of the serious money for reconstruction has been done and it can soon, with some work, be a delightful place to live.

I don’t know, Nancy. I love the building, but slicing up a church sanctuary doesn’t always work well!

Oh man! Change it back to a church and make it a wedding venue! The outside is perfect for wedding pictures.

I have to admit to being rather heartbroken at seeing the interior. The outside is so lovely and I can’t help but wonder what was lost during the gut job. 🙁

I have to agree about this being perfect for a wedding venue.

I’m nearly finished with my own church conversion. I hate to say it but I really don’t like what I see in the pix. Granted it looks like solid work, and the pictures are so vague that it’s difficult to tell just what exactly is going on, but it appears the character of the building has been remuddled. The exterior is charming and the setting is serene, but I don’t get the same vibe from the renovation. This looks like a situation where doing a sensitive addition off the back of the original structure would have been a better choice. Kind of sad.
