Thanks to the owner for sharing her home with us.

Michael Lambert, architect from Planfield, Illinois, helped with the historic preservation including making the home wheelchair accessible. The home was also featured in the August 2009 issue of Old House Journal.

Lovely exterior. Very clean and neat. Hardwood floor nice. Like the Llamas and Alpacas–we have some too.

One of the most beautiful houses I have seen. Love pretty much everything about it. Except that it is in Illinois. If correct, the taxes were $14,997 ($1,249.75/month) with a house value of $457,080. So that would be double if they sell for this price. 🙁

Very tastefully done! I really was expecting a house crammed full and overflowing with knick knacks, but I was pleasantly surprised with the tasteful restraint shown by the owners. Beautiful landscaping as well! I wonder if the assorted critters are included?

I agree with everyone here that the house/home is magnificent. Moving from this property would be a heartbreak to me.

I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the interiors. Such a great use of space with those attic rooms and what looks to be a basement. So tastefully decorated and the outside is to die for. Unfortunately in Illinois a house like this is a hard sell due to crazy taxes.

I’ve probably droned on about this too much BUT: people continue to live in Illinois for whatever reasons and buy homes. This home shouldn’t be a hard sell because it’s so close to Chicago and Oswego has been proactive with preservation.

Is there a state-wide preservation organization that would accept an historic preservation easement on the property? That might reduce the taxes since it removes the possibility of development or alteration. Those problems are not particularly likely in this neighborhood, but still worth exploring.
