  1. This Looks to be a heck of a bargain, lots of original features and doesn’t look too delapidated, you could definitely live here while working on fixing it up.

  2. I suspect the exterior was considerably more ornate in the past than it appears now but exterior wooden architectural elements are often lost to deterioration due to age and weather. I too was intrigued by the disk “capitals” at the top of the porch posts leading me to believe this was a highly ornamental house originally. The interior retains many period details such as the staircase and newel although the side panels under the handrail seem to be perhaps missing some stick and ball elements. Nice inlaid parquet flooring in some of the rooms and at least three mantels. Otherwise, the house needs some additional work and is priced accordingly. The surroundings are gradually losing their residential character as downtown commercialization encroaches nearby. The former Sanitarium is a fine period example from the turn of the last century. If a period photo were available, it would likely show that this was a fine residential and institutional area a century ago.

  3. Someone needs to bring out the incredible details of the outside. Accenting the different details would make this house pop. White is not the way this house was meant to be.

  4. The house is on the Sanborn map in 1895. I’m sure it looked better before the vinyl siding and the amateur remodeling. Interesting.
