Wonderful house in a fabulous setting. Probably the best compliment I can give is to say this house has a magnificent Palladian presence that reminds me of Drayton Hall (despite being built a 100 years later).

This house is beautiful and the views are equally lovely! Anyone would love to live there. Lovely to see the house so well taken care of.

The house is beautiful and the grounds are perfect. Love the bird and other paintings from what I’m guessing is the owner’s talents. Well maintained, Great Smokey Mountains National Forest, Cherokee National Forest, great weather and easy driving to the ocean – this place is perfect! Congratulations to the owners on keeping this well maintained, both inside and out, yet still looks like a family home.

OH my goodness! What a spectacular home. I love it just the way it is, and the kitchen! This would indeed be the perfect home for me

This is one of those very special properties. WOW is right! I can’t imagine the expense of maintaining almost 50 Acres but what a wonderful “problem” to have! The world has gone MAD & this place is a beautiful RETREAT!

My breath was just taken away at the picture of the front door open and looking out! This is one of those houses that you can totally “feel” its peace and tranquility just from the pictures!

A really amazing piece of property and home. It has been well maintained which we don’t always see in these old homes.

Impressive house with land steeped in history. Architecturally, to me this is a late Federal design transitioning over to the Greek Revival without the Temple form porch. The trim around some of the doorways and other interior details were common in Greek Revival homes of the period. Truly historic homes and lands like this one require stewards of history rather than mere property owners.

Drones are the best thing to happen to real estate listings! What a glorious piece of property & so well maintained & landscaped. Lovely house, beautifully stewarded, as John says. Love the mill. This offers a great deal for the price.

I have a couple of antique shots of the mill, as well as an interior shot, and a shot of the original basement kitchen hearth in this gallery:

A treat to see some new quality photos in the new listing.

Awesome, thank you! I knew I had seen photos of the inside of the mill when the man that submitted it was showing it to me. He also said the owners have a binder full of history and old photos (I think photos) of the place.

What bride and groom WOULDN’T want their photos taken with that amazing view? Everything about this place has been maintained so well and I think that I would have to have a swing overlooking that beautiful river scenery!

This house just takes me away to another time!!! I can’t believe it only has three bedrooms. Do you think that library could be turned into a bedroom?

  24. Rozaroni says: 21 comments

Absolutely first rate! Did anyone notice, would that be a little family cemetery in the grove of trees in the sixth or seventh photo down? I see a Celtic cross there. Just curious…

I live near the Hord house and it is absolutely beautiful. Part of the local history that I’ve always heard is that the bricks were handmade on the place by slaves, which would date it to pre civil war. ( sorry in some of the info, it says circa 1880)

The land is beautiful and would make a beautiful home for a family.

It’s a wonderful area to live in and the folks here are friendly and warm.

  29. So, are the live water pics of Hord Creek, and is it on the property?

What isn’t there to love about this property? This is just stunning! Would love to be able to run it as a wedding venue again!
