I remember this house; it was for sale about 15 years ago when we first began our search to relocate to Virginia. I do not recall the trailer home so it might be that someone bought with the intent to rehab and just never did much to it. I could swear back then the asking price was $139,000.

The current price seems really high. The area is beautiful but not near anything.

Two new houses starting construction in my neighborhood this week—$199k doesn’t sound too bad for a little seclusion!

I agree it’s high, considering the area and the shape it’s in. I do like that old paper on the wall by the stairs and landing, though.

I too recall this being on the market for quite a while. The house seems to be in the “good bones” category but still a labor of love. 10+ acres offers additional possibilities. The mobile house would be excellent for temporary dwelling until the old house could be rehabbed. I won’t argue for or against the price as I have zero knowledge of local market values.

A lot of work needed, but this could be brought back to a really nice house. I like the porch millwork & eave brackets a lot. Considering its condition & location, the price seems a little high to me but the owners did put on a new roof & maybe feel the mobile home counts too. They have plenty of room to bargain, with that price. It could be such a pleasant home, would be nice to see it regain that.

This looks exactly like the condition our old home was in when we bought it. I would hate to go back there again!
Is it not unusual for a house this old to have solid walls with no windows on the sides? I wonder if some were sided over. The benefit of old houses is usually a lot of windows for cross ventilation.

Love the staircase and what looks like original interior shutters! Wonder if any of the fireplaces work. The property is fantastic. Not sure if that’s enough to make me want to do all this work.

I love this house! Looks like this sold for $230,000 the last time it was up for sale which was at least 10 years ago. I wanted to buy it then but couldn’t. I took a tour of it back then and it was AMAZING. So original!! Look at the photos on the old link to see the before shots … http://www.davenport-realty.com/h04240-01.htm

It is my home and I would love to get something moving with it….
Metal roof saved it’s life at $40k….
Anyone interested in a partnership, Hospice home?
The home is solid as a rock and I will do something with it….
