Well documented as a prime example of Queen Anne architecture and recognized by all who enter town as a grand symbol of gracious times, this Pennington treasure is just as pristine and impressive as it was in 1895. Step beyond the deep front porch into the entry hall to discover decorative plasterwork, American chestnut woodwork, stained glass windows and the first of 8 fireplaces, which even managed to wow visiting craftsmen from This Old House. Perhaps the most impressive, the dining room boasts a china cabinet, tiled fireplace and tall wainscoting topped with period wallpaper. The up-to-date kitchen has room for eating and lounging and access to outdoor areas overlooking charming outbuildings, a pond and mature flowering plants. Upstairs, 2 enlarged new baths serve 4 bedrooms and a library with leaded glass built-ins. Two large bedrooms, a media room, bar and turret lounge are found on the top floor.

This is a really really nice house, but the taxes are 23,000. a year!!!!!! Now I have to wonder what the state offers to collect that much in property taxes, It seems like every house that is listed on here has a huge tax bill, but what or should I say where does all that money go.

Nice home but for over $1mil, I would have expected more of the landscaping. Also, I would assume its the staging, but it seems too sterilized. I bet it was a wonderful, well loved family home. Curious about the seating in the turret. I envision sceances or something going on there.

I’d be willing to bet the turret was open at one time making the bench type seating condusive for the outdoor weather.

That’s what I was thinking, too. From the exterior, at least, it looks like a good possibility. It might have been a little dangerous if it was once open, though. The bottom of the windows is about where the balcony rail would have been, and it’s pretty low. One too many beers and someone might tumble out:)

From the nautical themed decor, I thought this place was probably near the beach, but nope. It’s kept in beautiful condition, so kudos to these owners.

I think this house is a winner for someone. It is large, done well on the inside and they could have loads of fun landscaping and putting their own personal touches to the yard. I also like the large bedrooms. 🙂

Everybody likes turrets but not everyone knows what to do with them. I confess I look for ideas all over, because I have one in my own house (living room and bedroom both present furniture-placement problems). This isn’t really helping. I have to admit though, this is one of the cleanest interiors I’ve ever seen. Oh and I don’t think that’s a real bathroom, that’s a advert from the paint-chip pamphlet!
